Google is always watching.
Filmmaker and graphic designer Jan Pineda, on a trip to Hong Kong, noticed several tin structures similar to those all over Salcedo and Legaspi, Makati—AKA Jollijeeps—and thought to look them up via Google Street View. What started as a general fascination with square objects turned into a somewhat Marxist idea. “I felt like the project is sort of an inventory,” he shares. “Google Street View is a documentation of the city, and somehow you can see/observe the classes that support/thrive/live in a city. Metaphorically, these Jollijeeps look like the pillars that support the system.”
